Douglas K. McNally holds a B.A. in Sociology from S.U.N.Y. at Stony Brook and a J.D. degree from Hofstra University and has been in private practice since 1978. He joined the firm in 2009. He has had a diverse and active practice for the past 30 years, involving civil and criminal litigation in New York and federal courts, commercial law, estates and trusts, elder law, real estate and land use, municipal law, appeals, administrative law, arbitration, and legislative investigations. One of his principal areas is estate planning, and elder law and guardianships under Article 81 of the Mental Hygiene Law. He has lectured on Article 81 on numerous occasions, spoken at conferences on elder abuse and conducted Office of Court Administration training seminars. He has also lectured for the Suffolk Academy of Law on guardianships, elder law, and ethics. He has spoken at the “All About Aging” conference of the Suffolk County Senior Citizen Advisory Board and has conducted training seminars for Suffolk County Health Services and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Mr. McNally is an author and editor of a book on guardianship published by the New York State Bar Association.

Mr. McNally is a former Suffolk County Special Assistant District Attorney, Special Counsel to a New York State Senator, Special Prosecutor in the Village of Northport and Special Counsel to the Northport Board of Zoning Appeals, and was appointed to serve on the Huntington Zoning Ordinance Review Committee. He has served as an arbitrator in the District Court of Suffolk County and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, and has been appointed by the Courts as a guardian, conservator, counsel, guardian ad litem, referee, and court evaluator. Mr. McNally is a Captain in the New York Guard Reserve, previously serving as a Judge Advocate General Officer and Public Affairs Officer, and currently serves as a U.S. Coast Guard Legal Assistance Attorney, a Veterans Administration Accredited Attorney, and is a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Mr. McNally is admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court in the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, and all New York State courts. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
