David N. Yaffe earned his Bachelor of General Studies degree from the University of Michigan in 1984 and graduated with distinction from the J.D. program at the School of Law at Boston University in 1988. He began his law career in the position of court attorney for the Appellate Division, Second Department, attaining the rank of Senior Appellate Attorney prior to leaving for private practice. While at the Appellate Division, Mr. Yaffe earned his L.L.M. degree from New York University Law School in 1993 with a dual concentration in environmental and international law, and became the designated court attorney handling environmental cases. In 1994 he came to work with the firm, where he continues to concentrate in environmental law but has expanded his expertise to include zoning and land use, civil rights, constitutional, employment, education, and health care law. Mr. Yaffe has litigated successfully at all levels, from trial through appeal, and in both federal and state courts.
Mr. Yaffe has traveled extensively throughout the world, and speaks both Spanish and French. An avid cyclist and backpacker, he has been a member of the Board of the Knickerbocker Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club and a delegate to the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference.
Mr. Yaffe is admitted to practice in the Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court in the Northern, Southern, and Eastern Districts of New York, and all New York State courts. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
