Atkins v. City of NY

143 F.3d 100 (2d Cir. 1998).  We obtained the reversal of a jury verdict that awarded only one dollar to the victim of an unlawful arrest and excessive force.  The case stands for the significant proposition that a Federal court may not allow a nominal damage award to stand, where a person has been physically injured by police officers in the course of an unlawful arrest.
